Why we fund research
Funding Disparities
- Childhood cancer research is vastly and consistently underfunded.
- In 20 years the FDA has initially approved only one drug for any childhood cancer – 1/2 of all chemo-therapies used for children’s cancers are over 25 years old
- Research and development for new drugs from pharmaceutical companies comprises 60% of funding for adult cancer drugs and close to zero for childhood cancers. However, the NCI spends 96% of its budget on adult cancers and only 4% of its budget on children’s cancers.
- Each year 160,000 children, around the world are diagnosed with cancer.
Well… Where’s the money go?
Funds raised by the StrongHope Foundation are used to support the Team Ambassador Program, provide individual donations to the institutions and thier research centers that are caring for the children who are Team Ambassadors, individual grants that are given to researchers and clinical trials that are in need of support and select patients and families who are uninsured, struggling to financially afford the care and pharmaecedicals needed, and or those families who have been denied by insurance coverage to provide the above.
With your support we not only help draw closer each day to finding a cure but we provide HOPE to those who continue to battle cancer. HOPE is what inspires us to push forward. The Team Strong Hope Campaign will help provide HOPE in more ways than any of us can imagine!
In order to represent Pediatric Cancer Awareness each team will play one game, compete in one match or host one event in honor of their efforts. To do this every team will wear a neon yellow accent such as socks, sweatbands, helmet sticker, swim cap etc. Contact us to find out how to order your TEAM’s NEON accessories.
Awesome! Where do I sign up?
Right here! Once you submit your Sign up your team information we will send you an email describing the fundraising campaign and a Donation document that you can print and give to all of your team members to use when raising money. This document will explain to your donors what you and your team are raising money for. All donations will go to funding The Team Ambassador Program, Pediatric Cancer Research, Future Grants that will be given to fund clinical trials, and families in need of support.
